Seven Steps To Success On YouTube.

Here are seven steps to success on YouTube:

1. Keyword Research.

Good marketing always starts with good keyword research. You want to find out what keywords people are searching for. What keywords get the most searches and the most likes and so on. Start with that, find out what keywords you need to use.

2. Use Those Keywords in Your Videos

Google can’t really tell what you’re saying in front of a video, but they can tell what the description is that you write about your video, and what keywords you tag.

But the most important thing that Google pays attention to is the title. So make sure when you create a title for your YouTube video that you create a title that has the keyword in it.

3. Create Short Interesting Videos

If you are wanting people to watch your videos and share them, then make them short. I would say under two minutes if possible. So short, interesting, and to the point.

You can break this up. If you are doing frequently asked questions, stick with one simple question and answer it, and then go on to the next video. You might be thinking, “Man, this would make a great informative video.” Well, don’t do a video that contains the whole chapter. Instead, break it up into subtopics, and do individual videos on each subtopic or subtitle. That is going to help people watch your videos. Keep them short and interesting.

4. Include a Call to Action

Make sure that when you get done with your video that you tell people what you want them to do next. Did you know that you can do that through “call outs” right there on your video. You can put a call to action right there on the video. Or you can tell them, “Now go visit my website and click on that link, or go to Home Depot and buy that thing, or amazon.com and buy this thing that I’m describing.” You know, give them a call to action of what you want them to do next.

5. Leverage Social Media to Get More Visibility

This is very easy to do. YouTube makes it simple. I mean, they have all these share buttons, right? When you get done publishing your video you can share it with everyone on social media. Start sharing your videos and letting the world know that your new video is published.

6. Invest in SEO For Your Videos

There are different ways that you can optimize your video even more to get more views. You can hire people to help you with SEO. Or, you can learn how to do it yourself. There are a lot of tutorials online that you can watch to learn how to do it. If you have the time and willingness to put into it.

7. Repeat Frequently

Just do it again and again. Get on a schedule and start creating videos on a regular basis. That is one of the keys to good video marketing. Do it regularly, consistently, and always adding value with each video.

Your efforts will pay off!

Now, I’m going to show you the fastest way to create and launch a video. It only took me 29-minutes and I was on the first page of YouTube search results.

But, before I get started, I want to give you a couple of things to overcome.

Common Hindrances To Video

Fear
Many of you are hindered by the fear of getting in front of a camera. Aren’t you? It is scary, because people are going to be seeing you and you don’t know what to do. You get “stage fright” or whatever. Well, I just want to encourage you to do it. Do it once, and then do it again. On the third time, it won’t be as big a deal. By the time you’ve done it 50 times, it’ll be no big deal at all. So, get over your fear of being on camera by just doing it.

Overwhelm
The second thing many people have to overcome is that they don’t know how. They’re like, “Okay, well what kind of camcorder do I need to go out and buy? And do I need to get a green screen? And uh, what editing software? Am I gonna have to buy Adobe CS Whatever… and try to learn all ins and outs of making a movie?”

Answer: No, you don’t.

How to Make a Video

What I’m going to show you in the next five minutes is a tactic where you don’t have to buy anything. If you have a web cam on your computer, and a Google account, then you already have what it takes. You are ready to make a video. And I’m going to show you how to do it. And it only takes a few minutes. Here we go.

Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 10.04.53 AM

Go to your Google Plus profile and then scroll down to hangouts on air. And it’ll take you to the screen that’s going to show you all the live hangouts that are on air right now. These are live presentations taking place right now. Click on one and watch it if you want to. You know, Governor Gary Johnson, of course he’s not gonna be live on your screen, but he was on mine when I took this screenshot, and I could click on it and listen to whatever he has to say, because he is publishing on air. He’s in front of his camera and all these people have joined his hangout. But anyway, go up to the upper right corner and click on “start a hangout on air.”

Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 10.05.04 AM

Start your hangout on air, and then give it a title.

So for this test video, what I titled it is, “Best orthodontist in Yakima”. And then you can add names if you want to invite anyone to join you in the hangout. But since I’m recording a video, I’m not going to invite anybody. I’m just going to do it all by myself. So I’m going to have a hangout with myself basically. I used to ask my dad why he was talking to himself, and he would say, “It’s the only way I can get an intelligent conversation around here.” Haha, sometimes I think of that when I am doing a “hangout” all by myself.

Then when you click, “start hangout on air”, it’s going to take you to the hangout screen. But first of all, I just want to emphasize that you need to put your keyword in the title. So my keyword is orthodontist and my location is Yakima. And so I want to rank for Yakima orthodontist. So I just titled this one, “Best orthodontist in Yakima.”

Click “start hangout on air” and then, there you are in front of the screen. It’s not recording yet. You sort of get used to looking at yourself, and then you can go over on the left hand side and download some apps that make your video more interesting if you want to. You can do a lower third of your name and who you are or whatever.

Then when everything is setup the way you like it, you need to click, “Start broadcast.” When you click “start broadcast”, it connects this hangout with your YouTube account. And your YouTube video will start recording at that time.

When you click start broadcast, it goes live. Now you’re on air. I mean, you are on air for all the world to see. If they knew the link to where you are being published on air, they would be able to watch you. But most people don’t know where that’s at. So you’re on air all by yourself basically. The other thing that is happening is that YouTube is recording the video at the same time.

This “start broadcast” button turns to a red button. Then when you are finished with your video you click, “end broadcast”. Then just simply hang up your hangout.

Then go to your YouTube account. Note: It might take five or ten minutes for YouTube to finish publishing your video. After it’s published, click on “settings”, and then fill out some of this information. Fill out the description. You should also enter some tags. For this video I put “Washington (US State)”, and I put “Yakima”, and “orthodontist”. Those are just some tags to tell Google what this video is about.

Then you can go over to “Category” and change that too if you want. Leave your privacy setting set to “Public”, that way anybody can find this video.

Then go up to the upper right corner of the page and click, “Save changes.” (see image above)

Now, I’m going to give you a little bonus tip about how to embed this video into your blog or your website. If you’re using a WordPress website, create a post or a page and title it. I just titled it the same as the video title.

And then get the code from your YouTube video. (see image above)

In the YouTube video, you need to click on the “Share” button and then click the “Embed” button and capture this Iframe code. Once you’ve copied that to your clipboard, then you can go and paste it into your WordPress post or page. And then you can add some text. Actually, all I did here for the text was copied my description from the YouTube video. I just took YouTube video description, copied and pasted it into my text there. Then you can do your categorizing and what not, and then click, “Publish,” Now this new blog post is published and it has the video embedded in it.

So here it is on my website, “The best orthodontist in Yakima, WA.” There is the video and then down below is the description. Isn’t that nice?Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 10.05.52 AM

It’s also published on your Google Plus profile. Now you can share it and make sure that your friends in your circles and everybody else sees it. They can +1 it, comment on it and share it.

Now, check this out. This is where it gets really cool. Look at the YouTube search engine. In YouTube, I typed “Yakima orthodontist”,  and clicked, “search”. And this video that I just made came up at the very top as the first search result. Notice it even says, “New.” And it shows that it was published 29 minutes ago.
